She was the principal investigator of a research laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry in 2004 to manage programs later bought by Roche. Using mitochondrial activity, ICDD helped the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries test the efficacy and toxicity of products at a pre-clinical stage. A second business unit focused on modeling & diagnostic tool development in CNS diseases (AD and HD). Dr. Compagnone remained CEO and CSO of ICDD until its service unit was acquired by GeneStore France in 2019.
